Conservation of habitats and species in protected areas of the

Natura 2000 ecological network in Burgas region

 

 

National Association "Bulgarian Black Sea" concluded Administrative Agreement №D-34-91/31.07.2020, Registration number of the contract BG16M1OP002-3.019-0017-C01, for implementation of UMIS Project №BG16M1OP002-3.019-0017" Shared vision for Natura 2000 in the Burgas region”.

 

Project financing: under the Operational Program "Environment 2014-2020", co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the Cohesion Fund of the European Union.

 

Project value: BGN 71,400.00, of which BGN 60,690.00 from the European Regional Development Fund and BGN 10,710.00 national co-financing from the state budget of the Republic of Bulgaria.

 

Project objective: The aim of the project proposal is to raise the awareness of the local communities in the Burgas region about the benefits provided by the Natura 2000 network, thus providing support for achieving a better degree of conservation of the species and habitats subject to of protection in the protected areas in the region.

 

The events will present the benefits of the NATURA 2000 network for local communities, good practices from other regions and countries, as well as local products and funding opportunities. Special attention will be paid to the non-environmental benefits of the network, based on the recommendations in the National Information and Communication Strategy for the Natura 2000 network.

 

Target value: 100 participants in the information campaigns.

 

Expected result of the project implementation - Awareness of representatives of regional and local authorities, land owners / users, farmers, representatives of the tourism industry - hoteliers, restaurateurs, tour operators and hunting and fishing organizations about the possibilities for support for a better degree of conservation of the species and habitats subject to protection in the protected areas in the region as well as for the non-ecological benefits of the network.

 

Term of the Project: 14 months from the date of its signing. This period includes the period of time required for the implementation of the Project activities, which is 9 months from the date of signing this contract.

 

Place of performance: Burgas region, Pomorie

 

The following information events will be held:

1. Presentation of balneotherapy with healing mud and lye, and salt extraction from Pomorie
Lake - Pomorie Lake Protected Area and Pomorie Protected Area, entitled
"The gifts of the sea - a shared vision for the ecological network NATURA 2000
in the region of Burgas ”, Pomorie, on May 14, 2021 from 09.00 am in the Grand Hotel Pomorie.

 

2. Presentation and tasting of honey from Strandzha Nature Park - the two protected areas
"Strandzha" entitled "Gifts of the mountain - a shared vision of the environment
NATURA 2000 network in the Burgas region ”, on June 8, 2021 from 09.00 in the town of Malko Tarnovo.

3. Presentation and tasting of wine from the region of Burgas entitled "The gifts of
the sun - a shared vision for the ecological network NATURA 2000 in the region of Burgas ", Pomorie,
on June 29, 2021 from 09.00 am City Art Gallery "Dechko Stoev" in Pomorie.

4. On 02.07.2021 from 11:00 am, in the city of Burgas - Press conference of the project beneficiary
UMIS №BG16M1OP002-3.019-0017 "Shared vision for Natura 2000 in the Burgas region".
